Financial Year: 2024/2025

Voltx Services Ltd voluntarily publishes this statement in line with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Voltx Services Ltd has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.

1. Our Organisation

Voltx Services Ltd (Company No. 15420788) is a UK-based company providing security services, facilities management, front-of-house operations, commercial cleaning, and event staffing. We are headquartered at 172 Cranbrook Road, Ilford, IG1 4LX, and operate across London and the South East of England.

Our workforce comprises directly employed staff and contracted personnel selected for client assignments. We recruit security officers, cleaning operatives, front-of-house staff, and event personnel. All staff undergo thorough vetting, including BS7858 screening as part of our COP119 framework.

We recognise that the security and facilities management sectors can be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly where labour supply chains involve subcontracting and agency workers. We take this responsibility seriously.

2. Our Policies

We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. The following policies are relevant to our approach to preventing modern slavery:

  • Recruitment and Vetting Policy: We verify the identity, right to work, and employment history of all personnel through BS7858 screening (applied as part of our COP119 framework). This includes verifying identity documents, checking references, and confirming qualifications.
  • Whistleblowing Policy: We provide a confidential reporting mechanism for staff to raise concerns about any suspected unethical conduct, including modern slavery indicators, without fear of retaliation.
  • Code of Conduct: All staff and contractors are required to comply with our code of conduct, which sets clear expectations for ethical behaviour.
  • Equality and Diversity Policy: We are committed to treating all individuals fairly and with respect, and do not tolerate any form of discrimination or exploitation.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct: We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with all applicable laws.

3. Due Diligence

We carry out due diligence to identify and mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains. Our due diligence processes include:

  • Staff vetting: All personnel undergo comprehensive BS7858 screening as part of our COP119 framework before deployment, including identity verification, right-to-work checks, employment history verification, and criminal record checks where appropriate.
  • Site visits and welfare checks: Management conducts regular site visits to monitor working conditions, speak with staff, and identify any indicators of exploitation or coercion.
  • Supplier assessments: We assess new suppliers and subcontractors for their approach to modern slavery prevention before entering into contracts. Existing suppliers are reviewed periodically.
  • Payroll verification: We pay all employees directly through our payroll system. We verify that wages meet or exceed the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage and that working hours comply with the Working Time Regulations.
  • Document verification: We use robust document-checking procedures to confirm the authenticity of identity documents and prevent the use of fraudulent or coerced documentation.

4. Risk Assessment

We have identified the following areas as presenting a higher risk of modern slavery within our sector:

Security Sector

  • Use of subcontracted or agency security staff, where supply chain visibility may be reduced.
  • Night and weekend working patterns that may isolate workers from oversight.
  • Recruitment of migrant workers who may be more vulnerable to exploitation.

Cleaning and Facilities Management

  • The cleaning sector is recognised as a higher-risk industry for labour exploitation due to low-skilled, low-wage work and the prevalence of subcontracting.
  • Early morning and late-night shifts that may reduce management visibility of working conditions.
  • Use of temporary or agency workers in cleaning supply chains.

Mitigation Measures

  • We are committed to directly employing our workforce rather than relying on subcontractors.
  • All staff are paid at least the National Living Wage through our payroll, with clear records of hours worked.
  • Regular unannounced site visits by management to check on staff welfare.
  • Open-door policy for staff to raise concerns directly with management.
  • Where subcontractors are used, we require evidence of their own modern slavery due diligence.

5. Training

We provide training to relevant staff to help them identify and respond to indicators of modern slavery. This includes:

  • Management and recruitment staff: Training on recognising the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking, including indicators such as workers appearing fearful, being unable to produce identity documents, showing signs of physical abuse, or having restricted freedom of movement.
  • Site supervisors and operational managers: Guidance on monitoring working conditions and staff welfare, and on escalating concerns promptly.
  • All staff: Awareness of modern slavery during induction, including how to raise concerns through our whistleblowing procedure and the confidential channels available.

6. Reporting Mechanisms

We encourage all staff, clients, and third parties to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking. Reports can be made through:

All reports are treated seriously and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate any retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.

If you suspect someone is a victim of modern slavery, you can also contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or report online at modernslaveryhelpline.org.

7. Measuring Effectiveness

We assess the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures through:

  • Regular review of recruitment and vetting processes to ensure compliance.
  • Monitoring and recording of any reported concerns and their outcomes.
  • Periodic review of supplier compliance with our requirements.
  • Annual review and update of this statement by the directors.
